In today’s ever-changing socio-political climate, the field of forensic social work is more relevant than ever. On the front lines, in our institutions of higher education and from within legal systems, forensic social workers – along with our multidisciplinary allies and partners – are leading change on a national…and global…scale.
The changing face of forensic social work is first and foremost:
Inclusive and expansive – recognizing the value of individual and professional diversity and harnessing the power of a “full spectrum” approach to civil/family and criminal law perspectives that are solidly based in holistic social work principles and values.
Proactive – identifying and anticipating research and practice trends while promoting state-of-the-art intervention on micro (clinical) through macro (management, social change) levels. Being on the forefront of our field means embracing educational/learning opportunities that promote our own professional growth and development so that we can stand strong in supporting the social determinants of health and well-being.
Collaborative – creating new pathways toward working synergistically with our communities and colleagues; building bridges that are cutting edge, foster service integration and that place the children, families and communities we serve at the center of ethical and effective forensic practices, policies and procedures.
We invite YOU to be part of the changing face of forensic social work by coming to the 2018 NOFSW conference to present on or learn about cutting-edge innovations in our field.
The NOFSW Forensic Social Work Certificate program will be offered as a pre-conference institute on June 19. Workshops, panels and paper presentations will be presented June 20-22, 2018. Posters will be presented at the Opening Reception, Wednesday, June 20, 2018.
