2019 NOFSW Conference CE Information

CONTINUING EDUCATION

The 36th Annual Conference of the National Organization of Forensic Social Workers is    co-sponsored by the NOFSW   and  The Institute for Continuing Education.   The program  offers a total of  19.00  contact hours as listed.    Continuing education credit is awarded on a session-by-session basis with full attendance required for each session attended.  Partial session credit is not offered.   The CE processing fee is $40.00 per person and may be paid with registration or on-site.   Conference attendees who wish to receive continuing education credit MUST check in at the continuing education desk to make formal application and receive CE materials for completion.  Staff at the CE desk  will have a listing of attendees who pre-paid the CE processing fee. 

Course Completion:  To qualify to receive continuing education credit, attendees must complete all CE materials, sign in/out daily at designated locations, and complete an evaluation of the sessions attended.  CE verification is mailed to attendees following the Conference, and should be received within 3-4 weeks of the Conference.

Note:  It is the responsibility of attendees to determine if continuing education credit offered by The Institute for Continuing Education meets the regulations of their licensing/certification board.

Continuing Education Offered:

Psychology:  The Institute for Continuing Education is approved by the American Psychological Association (APA) to sponsor  continuing education for psychologists.  The Institute for Continuing Education maintains responsibility for this program and its content.   Not all sessions may be approved for psychology credit.  The CE materials received at the time of check-in at the CE desk  will indicate any non-approved sessions.   

Social Work:      The Institute for Continuing Education will submit an application to NASW for approval of this Conference.  Participants may contact The Institute for Continuing Education for disposition of application, and information on approval will be posted in this location as soon as received.    

New York:  The Institute for Continuing Education is recognized by the New York State Education Department’s State Board for Social Work as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed social workers.  Provider No. SW-0025.

Ohio:  Social Work Board Provider RCS 030001. 

Florida Dept. Health:  Social Work Provider BAP 255, expiration 03/2021.

California:   The Institute for Continuing Education, Provider 56590, is approved by the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists to sponsor continuing education for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs.  The Institute for Continuing Education maintains responsibility for this program and its content.  This Course meets the qualifications for up to 19.00 hours of continuing education credit for  LCSWs, as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.   Non-credit workshops will be clearly noted in the CE packet received at the Conference.

Skill Level:   Some sessions have been rated for skill level (beginning, intermediate, advanced).  Participants are urged to review session description for appropriateness for professional and personal development.

Instruction Methodology:   May include lecture, audio-visual, demonstration, experiential practice of techniques, case examples, large and small group discussion

Ethics Hours / Academic Credit:  The Conference offers no “academic” credit and CE hours awarded are not eligible toward fulfillment of a degree.  No “ethics” hours are offered.
